Where we Hope to Inform and Inspire
The CoupleAlexandra (Allie) and her husband Tyler were married in August of 2021 at Elkin Creek Vineyard and Winery, but their love affair began at Appalachian State University. Through hiking and adventures around North Carolina we became best friends before we started dating in November 2018. They now live in Asheville and continue to enjoy all that the outdoors have to offer a young couple of newlyweds. The Wedding"Our wedding day was perfect from beginning to end. It was a romantic ceremony set at a beautiful vineyard. Our colors were olive, sage and taupe and our motif was greenery. Our charming venue was adorned with lush cream flowers and eucalyptus from our florist and glass vases with candles floating on water." "One of my favorite moments was when I had my parents on either side of me at the end of the aisle while our officiant prayed at the beginning of the ceremony. When our officiant began our ceremony, after I had moved to the side, he began with “Mawage” like the clergyman from The Princess Bride. We wholeheartedly believe in the sanctity of marriage, and would never want to take away from that, but we knew we wanted to bring that element to our ceremony too because God made us silly and we wanted to share that moment with our loved ones." The Dress"I knew I didn’t want to spend over $1200 on my dress. I knew that I wasn’t a ballgown girl so when I pictured my dress, I instinctively saw it as something rather fitted. I was open to sleeves or strapless and, in my own way, I got the best of both worlds with the thin off-the-shoulder lace sleeves. I also knew I didn’t want to wear a stark white because it would most likely wash me out because of my complexion. The original inspiration I had for my gown was unique bohemian or vintage styles." The dress Alexandra chose was actually the first wedding gown she tried on, but despite how much she loved it, she wanted to try on others to make sure she wasn’t jumping at the first dress. We encouraged her to try on other gowns, visit other shops and consider her options. "It was immensely helpful that they supported me in looking at other dresses and other stores to verify my feelings of the first dress. I wasn’t pressured to buy a gown while I was there. They just wanted me to make the right decision for me and ultimately I did by purchasing the first wedding dress I tried on at Bridal Traditions." Congratulations Alexandra and Tyler! All the best in your new life together. Photo Credit: Tolman Media North Carolina
